Adventure Overland Show 2016

New innovations and big changes at this year’s Adventure Overland Show (AOS), the 5th edition of the event now held within the prestigious setting of Stratford-upon-Avon Racecourse in Warwickshire, England 24-25 September 2016.

In fact, if campers have the time, they can drive direct from Peterborough to the Racecourse, as pre-event camping pitches from 4pm Monday 19th to Thurs 22nd Sept at AOS are only £10 per vehicle per night, thereupon AOS camping kicks in at only £25 for the weekend Fri-Sun inclusive. This pre-event camping proved very popular last year, so it will become a permanent option from now on.

Completely new is ‘The Map Room’. Operated by Martin McGowan and volunteer members of Overland Sphere, an online adventure travel forum based on Facebook boasting almost 5,000 members. The facility will feature information on navigation, acquiring visas and assorted documentation, border crossings, advice on trip planning and preparation (i.e. what to take and importantly, what not to take!), ferry crossings, shipping, travel insurance, etc. By way of an example, one of the members who will be present has just returned from a year-long trip in Southern Africa touring Botswana, Namibia and R.S.A. (Republic of South Africa), thus has up to date info about the Kalahari Desert, Okavango Delta and other key areas in the region.

Once again the ever-popular ‘Been There, Done It’ Seminar Sessions will feature a full programme of free lectures. Last year the room doubled in size, this year it will double yet again as more and more visitors realise how important these 1hr talks are as part of their trip planning. Talks by both professional and amateur speakers include Self-Build Camper Van Conversions, Bushcraft, GPS Navigation, Bush Mechanics and Budget Overland Preparation.
